Every year, the Classic City Kiwanis Club provides various services for the Athens community. Our main goal is to raise funds to benefit the youth of Athens, primarily through our semiannual chicken barbeques. But, it doesn't stop there.
Some of the other services include semiannual highway cleanup, as part of Athens' "Adopt-A-Highway" program. CCK meets twice a year, early on Saturday mornings, to pick up all of the litter along Cleveland Road, from the railroad crossing all the way past Cleveland Road Elementary School... over a two mile stretch.
Other services include "Bell Ringing" at various stores for the Salvation Army Christmas Fund, as well as delivering complimentary gifts and food for their Holiday Charity Distribution each year. In October, 2006, many members spent the day doing interior contruction and painting of rooms at the Salvation Army offices on Hawthorne Avenue.
Another way the club raises funds to support local childrens' groups is by selling "coupon books" for $10 each, earning 50%. They feature "2-for-1" values, especially for dining.
Be sure to visit our NEWS page to see many of our service projects and awards provided to deserving students and youth groups, including the Clute Barrow Nelson Life Foundation. Thank you again for your continued intererst and support.
