On Sunday, February 19th, many members of the Classic City Kiwanis Club, along with other volunteers, barbequed about 700 chicken halves for a "Chicken Dinner" fund raiser to help raise over $4,000 for the Samaritan Counseling Center of Northeast Georgia, based in Athens. Samaritan Counseling provides healing and reconciliation throughout the Athens area community.
Tom Camp, member of Classic City Kiwanis and the executive director of Samaritan Counseling, organized this annual event. "It's a lot of fun doing these barbecues, even though we have to start around 6AM to get them done for the drive-through pick-up hours between 11AM and 1PM. Sam Massey has made this special barbeque recipe famous in Athens, and he was there as head chef, so it was a great success, especially thanks to all of our helpers," Tom stated.
