Thanks to the effort of member Jeb Bradberry, the Classic City Kiwanis Club was able to donate many new cuddly teddy bears, in all sizes, to the Athens Clarke County Fire Department's special program.
Local firemen keep these new teddy bears on hand to give to heartbroken children after a fire may destroy part or all of the home they love, and personal items within. The stuffed animals are also given to children in other stressful situations such as at auto accidents, domestic violence situations, child abuse, etc.
Captain Tim Smith received these donated bears at a Wednesday morning breakfast meeting in the Spring of 2006, thanks in part to member Jeb Bradberry who arranged a special price through his wife's store, "The Elephant Truck" in Athens. Classic City Kiwanis was allowed a special discount to purchase a great deal more teddy bears than normal with the funds raised specifically for this project.
